Other Professional Experience
Before I became a personal trainer, I was just like most people, living a sedentary lifestyle, eating whatever I craved, and doing whatever I wanted - which was less and less all the time. Out of shape and overweight, I could no longer do many of the things I used to do. Shoot! I didn’t even want to do the things that used to be fun! If it meant moving more, then I wasn’t interested. “Exertion” was my 4-letter word.
If I wanted to be active in old age, and not stuck to a chair, I knew that I had to make a lifestyle change. First, was taking responsibility for myself and begin exercising and eating healthy. No more excuses like, “I don’t have time”, “my husband doesn’t want to go with me”, or “my husband wants to eat ice cream (so I will too)”. I am the only one responsible for this body. There is no blaming anyone or anything else.
Next, instead of emotional eating I began intelligent eating - educating myself and choosing foods based on the nutritional value and a balanced diet. I learned how to find great tasting healthy foods to substitute for the poison bombs doctors warn us about (processed factory made foods, fried foods, food full of refined sugar, etc). When I pulled my head out of the sand and read the food labels, I was repulsed at the thought of putting junk in my body.
One step lead to another, and my weight started dropping. Better yet, I was feeling great! Starting out, I could only jog the distance of 2 houses, but as I challenged myself with just a little bit more, big changes took place. I began feeling adventurous and wanted to go out and enjoy life. I achieved fitness and discovered life! And I'm living happier and healthier because of it today.
I believe that I can help you make the changes necessary to be healthier and happier!
